The spread of newer technologies such as Wi-Fi and Cloud software systems has allowed studying and working from home more accessible. Although being in a comfortable setting has its advantages，the disadvantages are more outweighing especially in terms of efficiency and productivity.

It is argued that home study and home-based work are more productive as there are less disturbance in the form of classroom or workplace buzz, which is supposed to allow for more concentration on study and work. However, the truth is rather the opposite. Procrastination is often common among home-based students and professionals, since individual learning and working require some constancy, self-discipline and responsibilities. The lack of supervision or simply being at home for so long makes it possible to increase the temptation of lying in bed, surfing social networks or taking a nap, which will inevitably result in slow progress and poor performance.

Besides, isolation and loneliness are constantly felt and complained by people who study or work at home, unlike school and workplace which provides a location where people can meet people, make friends and exchange ideas. Consequently, the less they get involved with others, the less creative and resourceful they will become. Worse still, the result of home study and home-based work leaves too much to be desired, as students who received education at home do not have teacher around to provide guidance or answer questions when they encounter difficulties and employees who work from home are unable to contact their colleagues for assistance and help.

In conclusion, there is a knock on effect of study and work due to the absence from school and workplace and the lack of physical contact with fellow members, especially when currently many educational institutions and organizations are yet to evolve a coherent and cohesive arrangement and policy for learning and working from home.
