慎用詞匯

1. a lot of/lots of

這對詞組一般不要出現(xiàn)在academic essay中,考官已經(jīng)看煩了??梢杂肁 considerable number of代替。

2. Everything has two sides/every coin has two sides

說了跟沒說一樣,明顯的事實(shí),以后也不要用了。

3. Recently

這個(gè)詞不好。按照他們的說法就是too imprecise,沒有一個(gè)具體的時(shí)間??梢杂?In the last 5 years…/since…代替。

4. There is survey…

has there been? only say this if you actually know of one. 也就是說考官知道這些都是你編的,最好不要用了。

5. And, because, but

這三個(gè)詞我們還是經(jīng)常會(huì)用到。其實(shí)最好用in addition、therefore、however等代替。

6. 不能用vivid 來形容world,vivid可以用來說memories或者是dream之類的。

7. No one can deny that…/Undoubtedly

這2個(gè)詞組太絕對了,用來開頭并不合適。其實(shí)每個(gè)人都能持與你意見相反的態(tài)度。

8. in a word

很多人會(huì)用它來做conclusion。如果你準(zhǔn)備用這個(gè)詞組來引出你的觀點(diǎn),那你最好用一個(gè)詞來概括,誰讓你是這么寫的呢。

9. Nowadays

理由和3差不多,這個(gè)詞用在文章里顯得太普通了,it does not mean very much.

最好不要用,有的考官會(huì)扣分。

換成merits and drawback 和pros and cons

12. In my opinion, I (dis)agree with this.

這是多余的表達(dá)。When stating your opinion you follow with a fact.

13. IELTS中千萬不能用縮寫,例如I’m。在考場上別犯懶,平時(shí)最好也別寫縮寫,多多注意,養(yǎng)成習(xí)慣。

14. very不能用來形容delicious, lovely, fantastic, wonderful, amazing, gorgeous and huge。

15. Human being,可以用man kind代替。
