The diagrams below show the stages and equipment used in the cement-making process and how cement is used to produce concrete for building purposes.

The left illustration reveals that the production of cement starts from crushing limestone and clay into powder. Next, the powder has to be thoroughly mixed together before it can be heated up by a naked flame in a rotating heater. The residue is then ground into cement. Finally, it is packed into bags for further use.

Another picture shows which basic materials are needed and what proportion for each is required for making concrete. Firstly, gravel is the most important raw materal, which accounts for 50% of th e concrete mix. The other two materials that are used for making concrete are sand and cement, with a mixing proportion of 25% and 15% respectively Water, as the last raw material in the production, acts as a combining agent that mixes everything together. All the materials are processed in a rotating concrete mixer.

In summary, making cement is more complicated than making concrete, as it requires heating and grinding but the production of concrete only involves a mixing technique.
