While advacned techonology is revolutionizing the leisure life of younger generaion, I tend to say that we should pay more attention to the dark side of the phenomenon in terms of its detrimental effects on childrens personality development and behavior.

Superficially, it cannot be denied that the entertainment and social life of the younger generation have been more diversified thanks to the emerge of new technology as computers and the Internet. For example, living in a world connected by the ubiquitous Internet, todays children are able to make new friends with peers at any corner of the globe, which is inconceivable to their predecessors who lived in the world without online social media as Facebook or Twitter. Also, another benefit we should not forget is the computer skills children acquainted from playing video games, which has become an indispensable qualification in study and future careers.

Beyond these seemingly benefits, is my apprehension about the potential risks of this technical trend. The first problem is that it would isolate young people from the real world. When disappearing down in the rabbit hole behind screens, youngsters are alienated from friends or family members in real life, which might lead to the psychological problems, such as self-centeredness, indifference and inconsideration.

Apart from that, another risk we cannot afford to ignore is the obscene content on the Internet, say, violence, erotic pictures and videos, and other disgusting information. Being exposed to these materials, nave young minds are more likely to be eroded and, more seriously, they are prone to imitate these misbehaviors which may lead to unforeseeable ramifications.

Given this, I have to argue that more attention needs to be paid on the negative influence on the next generation inflicted by new technology.
