Nowadays, with the development of technology and economy, living conditions of youngster have been improved substantially. However, it is surprising that the level of their happiness does not grow correspondingly. In this essay, I will give possible reasons and solutions to this issue.

Firstly, as the young generation grow up and live in a time when there is much more abundant materials, they take for granted their high living standard and become less sensitive to any improvement in this regard. On the other hand, their spiritual need cannot satisfy due to the loss of traditional values. They strive for fame and profit and suffer from high stress every day, but get disoriented in a fast-changing world and have no idea about the ultimate goal of their lives.

In addition, as many young people were spoilt by their parents in their childhood, they become self-centered, inconsiderate and apathetic. All they care about is no more than their personal interests and feelings, instead of having a charitable heart for giving and helping others. Therefore, love and care, the key elements connecting people together emotionally, are fading. Therefore, young people gradually become indifferent from their friends and families, which then trapping them into negative emotions like loneliness, depression and anxiety.

To address this problem, young people should realize that the main solution lies with their own change. They should shift their attention from the pursuit of fame and money to their families and a balanced life. Also, engaging in interpersonal activities like parties and sports with friends is an idea way that helping young generations recover their emotional pleasure and well-being back, because sharing true feelings, experience and inner-heart ideas with others is a wonderful means of relieving stress, mentally.

Those holding the view that art classes should not be compulsory might think that art consumes too much of students' time. College students who intend to take science as their major are even expected to be fluent in foreign languages now so that essays written by foreign scholars are not barriers in their academic pursuit. In other words, high school students are supposed to show higher levels of academic competence,which seemingly makes art unessential.

However, art classes are by no means only intended for entertainment. Children even dabbling in art tend to be more creative in mind. Those skilled in music or painting can interpret the world in a way that we cannot expect from a layman. This kind of ingenuity is also a rare quality constantly found in great scientists, whose contributions have served to create a totally new field for the latter generations. In his reply to a question about death, Albert Einstein considered his departure from the mortal world to be forever farewell to another great musician. With a sigh he answered "I cannot listen to Mozart anymore". Thus, can we simply regard art classes to be selective?

In conclusion, although stricter academic requirements are imposed on students, this cannot be an excuse for excluding art subjects from their curricula. Whatever kind of art can stimulate and inspire students, paving way for their future academic attainment.

Individual greed and selfishness has been the basis of the modern society. Someone think that we must return to the olds， more traditional values of respect for the family and the local community in order to create a better world to live in. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

We are in a selfish world today. We are so busy looking out for number one， so saturated by our own problems， our own issues and our own little and often petty concerns that we failed to see how all could grow and being benefited by working together as a team. As far as I am concerned， the reason of the individual greed and selfishness were actually caused by the faster and faster development and more and more competition of the society.

Some people yearn to return to the old and traditional values of respect for the family and the local community in order to create a better world to live in. According to them ， people were more honest and warm-hearted and the manner of traditional treating each other was simple and selfless in the past.

Personally， I do not support this view . Even in the past， greed and selfishness existed in our society. These two factors never disappeared since human have instinctive material needs， individual wants and desires would swell surely with the advances of life and society. Moreover， old tradition has its own limit and could only adapt for a certain period. I believe that the key point here is to create a better world is the way of formulating moral criteria and improving the spiritual education. For example， religions play a significant role in respect for the family and the community.

To sum up， selfishness and greed cannot be avoided and eliminated， because they exist， more or less， in everyone's heart， even sometimes they contribute to the prosperity. To control them depends on the well basic education from every part of our society， such as family， communities， academic institutions， etc.
