The skill I am going to tell you about is Russian.Decades ago,when the Soviet Union still existed,and the Sino-Soviet relationship was on its honeymoon,it used to be the first choice when Chinese people wanted to learn a second language.But ever since the collapse of the country,this language has lost its popularity and become a skill mastered by a fraction of people.

我要告訴你的技能是俄語(yǔ)。數(shù)十年前，當(dāng)蘇聯(lián)還存在，中蘇關(guān)系處于蜜月期的時(shí)候，它曾經(jīng)是中國(guó)人學(xué)習(xí)外語(yǔ)時(shí)的第一選擇。但自從蘇聯(lián)解體，這一語(yǔ)言就不再流行，成為一種只有少數(shù)人才掌握的技能。

I learned it from a senior citizen in a language center outside my university three years ago.He was already approaching 70 but was still energetic and had an acute mind.According to him,he received his education at Moscow University and had been doing research on Russian culture after graduation.After retirement,he hoped to take advantage of his knowledge to help others gain a better understanding of our neighbor,so he took this job at the center.

我是從校外一家語(yǔ)言中心的老人那里學(xué)的它。他已經(jīng)快70歲了，但仍然精力充沛，思維敏捷。根據(jù)他的說(shuō)法，他在莫斯科大學(xué)接受的教育，畢業(yè)之后一直從事俄羅斯文化的相關(guān)研究。退休之后，他希望利用自己的知識(shí)幫助其他人更好的了解我們的鄰居，因此做了這份工作。

His class was distinctive from the one I was familiar with,where we needed to memorize a lot of grammar and words.Instead,it was full of interesting activities.For example,he rarely told us the meaning of the words directly but employed exaggerated moves and relevant pictures to let us figure them out by ourselves.Moreover,speaking accounted for a large part.He would do drills and one-on-one tutorials,and then encourage us to communicate with each other.It was really impressive.

他的課堂跟我過(guò)去熟悉的那種需要記憶大量語(yǔ)法和單詞的課堂完全不同。恰恰相反，它充滿(mǎn)了各種各樣有趣的活動(dòng)。例如，他很少直接告訴我們單詞的含義，而是利用夸張的表演和相關(guān)的圖片讓我們自己猜出來(lái)。此外，口語(yǔ)也占很大一部分。他會(huì)進(jìn)行跟讀，一對(duì)一輔導(dǎo)，并隨后鼓勵(lì)我們互相交流。非常讓人印象深刻。

Mastering Russian opened my eyes to this great country.It turns out Russia has done a marvelous job in architecture,religion,art,mathematics,and a wide range of other scientific areas.Without it,the dazzling civilization of humankind will lose half of its amusement.I feel really lucky that I learned this skill.

掌握俄語(yǔ)讓我注意到這一偉大的國(guó)家。原來(lái)，俄羅斯在建筑、宗教、藝術(shù)、數(shù)學(xué)和其他許多科學(xué)領(lǐng)域都做出了自己的貢獻(xiàn)。沒(méi)有它的話(huà)，人類(lèi)璀璨的文明會(huì)失去一半的魅力。我很慶幸自己學(xué)習(xí)了這一技能。
