圖書館學(xué)（library science）是研究圖書館的發(fā)生發(fā)展、組織管理，以及圖書館工作規(guī)律的科學(xué)。
這是一個相對冷門的專業(yè)，它一方面與一些學(xué)科在研究對象和研究內(nèi)容上交叉重復(fù)，在歷史淵源、現(xiàn)實狀況和未來發(fā)展中，都有著同族的關(guān)系；另一方面，圖書館學(xué)利用其他學(xué)科的理論和方法來解決自身的理論與實踐問題，相互之間存在著應(yīng)用的關(guān)系。
和圖書館學(xué)有同族關(guān)系的學(xué)科主要是檔案學(xué)、情報學(xué)、文獻學(xué)和目錄學(xué)、信息管理等。
