When we readnewspapers, our attention is always attracted by increasing unemploymentratein young graduates who are leaving college. In my opinion, there are manycauses for thisdisquieting phenomenon and we should try to solve the problem.
Most companieswould rather employ a low-educational specialized worker than a this-year's graduatefrom a well-known university. For companies, they are more likely to choosethecandidates with rich working experience. Apparently enough, the training foryounggraduates usually costs them a large quantity of time and money. Inaddition, the current education system brings on a lot of bookworms who areadept in theoretical but not practicalknowledge. Therefore, it is hard forthose graduates to complete the practical assignmentssuccessfully andsmoothly. This is one major reason why many graduates find it to findsuitablejobs.
An un-mandatoryretirement age is another factor leading to the youth unemployment forcollegegraduates. Along with the improving of working efficiency, proficient employeeswithrich and extensive working experience get retired at a much later age. In thiscase, for younggraduates, there are fewer chances to get access to the jobstaken up by the older and moreexperienced.
However, theyouth unemployment may cause serious social problems. Due to the gloomyjobmarkets, college students may leave school before finishing their academicstudy, thus thehigher education system will be challenged, and more seriously, the importance of highereducation will be doubted. This will causeretrogression in education.
To solve thisgrave problem, both colleges and students should take some actions. On one hand, it is advisable for colleges to adjust courses more closely related tothe future jobs.On the other hand, students in college, as future candidatesfor employment, should not onlyget a good command of professional knowledgebut also take part in some practical exercisesto be prepared for the futurejobs. In addition, government may stage laws and regulations to assistgraduates in finding jobs.
